Kangaroo Island is home to the only known pure strain of Ligurian bee in the world. The bees descended from the Italian province of Liguria, imported in twelve hives in the 1880’s and protected from other breeds of bee by the Island’s isolation. The honey produced is of outstanding quality and no trip to Kangaroo Island is complete without sampling it. At both the Island Beehive and Cliffords Honey Farm you can taste the honey and learn more about the Ligurian bee.
